Competition is all good for us :)Īnd yes, definitely I think Doom 3 is a system hog. maybe that's right, it's a war that has a long time going on. Jeez.įor those of you who wrote helpful comments, thanks :) I'm going to try turning off shadows next.Ībout the AMD vs. Some of you go with this sarcastic comments and say things like "Dude, your computer is far from top of the line".
I don't know where in my post I said my PC was state of the art :s I need to know this before I buy the game, 'cause I don't want to end up angry and dissapointed :angry. What I want to know is that if any of you out there experienced the same with the game demo, but maybe when you bought the actual game it ran much better.
I have every update available on Windows Update, the latest DirectX version, video drivers, etc. Most of these games have wonderful graphics (dare I say some are even better than Doom 3's), so I don't think it's my system's fault. From the moment I got my system, every game has run smothly on it. My bet is that Doom 3's programmers are not that good, and they didn't manage memory and other system resources so well. I went to Doom 3's website and found out my system overqualifies for these system requirements:
it was "playable", but still a little jumpy and, frankly, I don't think it's fair for me to have such a nice system and still having to bear playing a game with such low resolution. So I let it "scan hardware and select optimal video quality", and it set itselft to these settings: It was so slow and jumpy I got desperate. I installed it and tried to play it with the highest video settings (as I always play all games) and it was imposible to play.
